The Foundation of an Intentional Legacy
I'm Stephen Blackman — a San Antonio-based portrait, family, and editorial photographer. Views by Rhylan is named for my three children: Rhian, Ryleigh, and Landyn. Their names, fused into one, became my brand. I see every session as a chance to capture identity, connection, and legacy in a single frame.
01. Wardrobe & Palette
Coordination is key, not matching. Opt for timeless neutrals, textures like linen or wool, and muted earthy tones. San Antonio’s natural light thrives on these organic palettes, ensuring the focus remains on your connection rather than your attire.
02. Timing the San Antonio Light
We chase the 'Golden Hour'—the hour before sunset. This timing provides the soft, emotive glow characteristic of the VBR aesthetic. For indoor studio sessions, we focus on high-key directional lighting that highlights identity and form.
03. Arrival & Mindset
Arrive 15 minutes early to settle in. Connection cannot be rushed. My lens captures what words can’t always say, but only if you are present. Leave the stress of the day behind; your only job is to simply exist with those you love.
